Future Church Plants

Several weeks ago while praying, I began to think of cities where Redeemer’s Way will birth churches. It may seem odd since Redeemer’s Way has not even started yet. But we serve a big God.  I believe we will start churches in Jackson, Covington, Macon, Hampton, and Griffin. I am sure this will only be the start. God will bring us people who have a heart to start a church. We will be tasked to help disciple them and shepherd them after they plant. RWC will become a training ground for church planters.

GOD is up to something BIG

Here is the 1st Option Kelly Allums has completed for Redeemer’s Way. She really did a great job illustrating our vision.

Busy weekend

This was a busy weekend for Redeemer’s Way. On Friday night Janice and I met with Bill and Joyce. There was not a set agenda, we just spent some time fellowshipping. I shared a little of my plans for our 1st team meeting to occur next Saturday 6/30. We then closed the evening with a time of prayer.

Bill then prophesied that if we set up RWC as we are talking that we will be the gate keeper to the city. It is clear that we are focusing on the people and their needs and this will draw them in.

Joyce then spoke a word from Is. 40:31. There are times we are made to wait because it is not until we wait that our strength will be renewed, and then we will mount up as eagles.

Bill then had another word from the Lord “Do not be afraid my son, you will see a gate to the enemies stronghold. The gate will open and you will be amazed as the enemy falls to the right and too the left without a battle. Know this, this is not your plan, I claim this land. I have called you to go and claim this land as mine and plant the banner of the Lord. My son, do not be afraid. Know this that I love you and I have called you. “

A gatekeeper must have a key that can both open and close. The gatekeeper can determine to let in or to let out. You will see the gates open and see the enemy falling to bow to God.

Blessed are the feet of those who carry the word of the Lord.

Saturday Janice and I went to Living Wayin Adairsville. Pastor Jon Spellman put a group together to do our Planter’s Assessment. It seemed to go well. They are supposed to have the report completed by the end of the week. Hopefully it will have some great coaching tips. Pastor Jon Spellman is going to see about us attending a 3 day Church Planters Intensive in July. This will allow us to develop our church proposal for Foursquare and not have to wait for us to finish the PIT class with Pastor Scott.

Sunday morning yet another couple approached us that they have been praying about joining our team and we are meeting with another couple on Tuesday night. I am still anxious for the other couples to commit. We should have a minimum of four couples at our meeting on Saturday. This will be a great first meeting.

5 competencies for starting a ministry Part II

Here are the rest of my notes from the meeting with Dr. Chand.

Be sure and check out Dr. Chand’s website by clicking here.

        3.   Communication Skills

    1. Internal – Avail myself of a preaching or teaching clinic. (I have actually joined Toastmaters) Do I speak and write in a way that the people of RW can understand?
    2. External – I must have a communications strategy. One way is to contact local businesses and let them know about RW. Tell them that if their employees ever go through a crisis and need a Pastor to give me a call. If someone stops at the local gas station and asked for directions to RW, would the clerk be able to give them directions?

       4.  Networking

Never meet a stranger. As I interact in the community I should give a  business card to everyone I meet and ask for one in return. Then send a follow up letter or e-mail to the person I just met. I along with my team must go to the people. We should not wait for them to come to us. Contact information is a most valuable asset.

       5. Entrepreneurial

I along with my team must think: Strategy, Business, Future, Solutions, Leverage, Resources, and Relevance.

             a. Strategy –Knowing where we are going and having a plan on how to get there.

            b. Business – Knowing how to handle money. How to be a wise steward. Chand suggests that the Pastor should be paid the most money the church can afford. The church will be blessed as the head is blessed.

             c.  Future – What does the church and community look like 5 years from now? The pastor and leadership should always be thinking 5 – 7 years out.

             d.  Solutions – We must always think solutions not problems. See needs and provides solutions to meet them. It does not always have to be a new idea.

             e. Leverage – Making wise use of our relationships. Always beneficial to all parties involved.

            f. Resources – Where can I get it? Who can help me? The answer to a problem is always a person, not money. It is “who” solves the problem, not what.

            g. Relevance – Are we applicable to our community? Light only has value where there are dark places. Are we shining God’s light in the dark places of our community?

As you can see a lot of info that was given in an hour and half session. But the content is huge. Redeemer’s Way has a lot of work to do.
